Fall 2006 Robert R. Chapman Grant Awards
Four Dutchess County non-profit organizations have been awarded grants from the Robert R. Chapman Fund totaling $5,875.00. Funding priority is given to organizations that promote and/or help provide international and cultural learning experiences for youth.
Fall 2006 Grant Awards Mill Street Loft, Inc. $3,000 Experiencing the Arts & Cultures of Mexico Funds to offset the costs of a ten day trip for 12 students and 2 teachers to Mexico to learn about the art and history of Mexico through first hand experiences.
Stissing Mountain High School $1,375 China Exchange 2007 (Phase II - Visit to China) Funds to help defray some of the expenses for students who would have difficulty paying their share of the expenses associated with the three week trip to China. The China Exchange Program provides a first hand opportunity for students to learn about a different culture. Mid-Hudson Children’s Museum $1,000 Immigration Traveling Educational Trunk Funds will be used to purchase traveling cases for each of the different countries featured, as well as large trunks to transport the combined materials to schools, community organizations and festivals. World Affairs Council of the Mid-Hudson Valley $500 Academic WorldQuest (AWQ) Funds will be used to offset the costs associated with two events, the AWQ regional competition at the Henry A. Wallace Center in Hyde Park, NY and for sending the winning team to the national AWQ competition in Washington, DC in the spring of 2007.
