How do nonprofit organizations react to downturns in the marketplace in the short- and long-term? This seminar will discuss the financial priorities and processes nonprofits put into place to respond to this possibly unprecedented time of uncertainty and change. It will look at specific tools and analysis to answer the difficult questions necessary to make critical operational and strategic decisions.
These include: - Boards’ fiduciary responsibility to request and expect financial information and management’s response, including contingency plans
- Using annual and one-time budgeting processes to identify revenue gaps and designing a plan to close them
- Forecasting as a critical tool to analyze the extent of the problem and the impact of the solution
- Understanding your balance sheet and its role, and integrating cash flow into the discussion
- Measuring the impact of decisions on the organization’s ability to fulfill its mission
- Communicating the organizational response with stakeholders
