Fall 2008 UCCF Community Response Grant Awards
Ten Ulster County nonprofit organizations have received $15,000 in grants from the inagural Ulster County Community Respone Grants program. The committee reviewed 33 grant requests totaling $91,730. Community Response Grants are awarded to help organizations be more effective and efficient. Grants awarded throughout Ulster County include but are not limited to equipment to improve office operations, professional development for staff and/or board members and programmatic areas.
Fall 2008 Awards Always There $1,395 Grant will be used for the Adult Day Program/Senior Interactive Sports Program for the purchase of a Nintendo Wii System. CASA of Ulster County $1,055 For staff development for an organization that provides a voice for children in family court.
The Children's Annex $1,000 Support for professional development in the area of autism education for the Ellenville staff.
Family of Woodstock, Inc. $2,000 Funds for the renovation of the Family Domestic Violence Shelter kitchen and dining room. Kingston Library $750 Purchase of a fax machine and printer that will provide expanded use of public access computers. Mohonk Preserve, Inc. $2,000 Funds to replace aging obsolete computers with more energy efficient units.
The Queens Galley $1,250 Phones for Food – Update of phone system to allow better communication with donors and volunteers.
Resource Center for Accessible Living, Inc. $2,000 Purchase of a computer which will then be equipped with software provided by the Commission for the Blind and Visually Impaired. Rip Van Winkle Council Boy Scouts of America $1,000 Purchase of a computer server for the Council Service Center, allowing remote access and greater protection of data. Ulster Literacy Association $750 Support for the recruitment of volunteer tutors through paid advertising to serve people on waiting list. YMCA of Kingston and Ulster County $1,800 Strong Kids Camp - To provide day camp scholarships for youth ages 5 to 14. The following grant was funded by an Anonymous Fund at the Community Foundation of Dutchess County: Big Brothers Big Sisters of Ulster County $1,500 Support for the 100 Men in 100 Days program to recruit mentors for male children.
