Dutchess Nonprofits Receive $25,000
Community Foundation of Dutchess County Awards $25,000 to Local Nonprofits Poughkeepsie, NY – The Community Foundation of Dutchess County has awarded eleven grants totaling $25,000 from its Community Response Grants program. “Community Response Grants enable the Foundation to take a leadership role in finding solutions to our community’s most pressing needs,” said Andrea Reynolds, President and CEO. “It is through the generosity of donors that the Community Foundation is able to make these grants possible.” Community Response Grants are awarded to help organizations be more effective and efficient. Grants awarded throughout Dutchess County include but are not limited to equipment to improve office operations, professional development for staff and/or board members and programmatic areas. Organizations receiving grants included: Astor Services for Children & Families, Dutchess Outreach, Grace Smith House, Inc., Harriet Tubman Academic Skills Center, Hudson River Housing, Inc., Mid-Hudson Addiction Recovery Centers, Mill Street Loft, Inc., No Strings Attached Food Pantry, Planned Parenthood of the Mid-Hudson Valley, Somos La Llave del Futuro, and The REAL Skills Network Inc. Grant monies will be used in a variety of ways: to purchase food, computers and books, hire a teacher, replace worn mattresses, purchase a telephone system, offer a graphic design course, purchase a commercial refrigeration system, expand programs and support an immigrant health initiative.
