Connecting Donor Interests with Community Needs

One of the Community Foundation’s primary objectives is to increase philanthropy by making it easy for people who want to make a difference to connect to community needs they care about.  We’re happy to help foster purposeful charitable giving, whether people give through the Community Foundation or directly to a charity.

Our Web site feature, Community Wish List, is one way we help make donors and potential donors aware of community needs by offering nonprofits the opportunity to submit their most urgent needs and current projects.   

What is the Purpose of the Community Wish List?

The purpose of the Community Wish List is to give nonprofit organizations serving Dutchess and/or Ulster counties the opportunity to tell the community about current and/or special needs that cannot be met with current resources.

This opportunity is open to 501(c)3 public charities, local government or public education institutions.   We cannot list an organization's needs that have not yet received confirmation of their charitable status from the IRS.
