Community Foundations of the Hudson Valley announced this week the first round of awards under its Field Trip Grant Program, which provides funding for education-related trips. In all, more than $34,400 in funding was allocated to 29 classes from several Dutchess County school districts. The Field Trip Grant Program, which is funded by a grant from the Dyson Foundation, will be accepting new online applications funding until Oct. 31, 2011.
Community Foundations of the Hudson Valley honored three area couples who personify community service on Sunday, Oct. 2 when the regional philanthropic organization held its 2011 Garden Party. Nearly 500 people turned out to honor Martin & Eleanor Charwat, Richard & Judy Mathews, and the Hon. Albert M. & Julia Rosenblatt at the annual Garden Party, which was held at the entirely solar- and wind-powered home of Mr. Patrick Page of Poughkeepsie.
Scheduled for Sunday, Oct. 2 from 3 to 6 p.m., the signature event is presented annually to recognize outstanding community servants while demonstrating the ongoing work of the Community Foundations of the Hudson Valley, serving Dutchess, Ulster, and Putnam counties.
