Bertha Effron Fund

Four organizations have received grants totaling $6,000 from the Bertha Effron Fund.  The Bertha Effron Fund was established to preserve and strengthen Jewish culture and Jewish institutions in this area. The committee reviewed 5 grant requests totaling $11,157.50.

Community Hebrew School of Dutchess County

Support for a workshop that demonstrates and teaches children the process first used to refine olive oil for the Chanukah menorah.

To engage Rick Recht, a premier Judaic family performer for a family concert and several family engagement opportunities.

Jewish Family Services of DutchessCounty

2,000 

Support for Mitzvah Day, an annual community event in which volunteers from the Jewish community and their friends of all faiths provide help to local charitable and non-profit organizations.

Poughkeepsie Public Library District
$2,000 

Support for a month-long exhibit and series of programs entitled, “A Fine Romance: Jewish Songwriters, American Songs 1910-1965." This project will highlight and explain the contribution of Jewish songwriters to American culture.
